Hello everybody,
I hope this finds you and your family well. Many years ago
a schoolboy from India wrote me a letter that opened out in
similar fashion: "I am well and my family is well. Hope you
are also in the same well :)" That being said, I am well
too!
PEACECASTERS INTERVIEW: Some months ago, when I returned
from Louisville, KY, I told you about my interview with a
teen group called PeaceCasters. Now, you can see the actual
interview that they edited and featured on YouTube. Seeing
these kids involved in interspiritual work at such a tender
age is so heartwarming. This is the future because all kids
are interested in technology, so creating a program in
which they can creatively learn from different faith
traditions is powerful. They get to find their own voice
while expanding their spiritual perspective and spreading
that awareness to others in their peer circle. In their own
words, it is about: "Kids coming together to avoid judging
others for their faith", "breaking down the walls",
"spreading messages of peace throughout the world through
digital media", and "a vision of a peaceful world in which
everyone can learn to work together". I encourage you to
watch the videos on our site, perhaps to start something
similar in your own region, and, most importantly to write
them a word of encouragement. I feel so honored to have
been interviewed by them.

SHAKTI ON BILLBOARD CHARTS: Last week, I came to learn that
Shakti, the new version of my album through The Relaxation
Company, has been featured on the Billboard charts for good
number of weeks since its release a couple of months ago,
climbing to as high as number 25 in the bestseller
category. This is pretty remarkable given its genre and
what it pulls up beside. For those of you who may remember
when Shabda Yoga was first released in 2000, it was right
up there alongside of the Beastie boys in the top 100
category. Although these are just drops in the ocean, they
point to the possibility that there is a turn in the
mainstream toward yogic music and we are grateful for this.

MYSTERY SCHOOL TO STOP ACCEPTING REGISTRATIONS FOR THE
YEAR: These last few months have been really wonderful
being based here in Austin and working on our Yogic Mystery
School which has been a very fulfilling not only for us but
for all of the students involved. For those of you who want
to get aboard this program, I would like to let you know
that this is your last opportunity this year. We are will
be closing registration and will not be accepting any new
students until summer 2009 giving our full attention to
just those who have committed to the program.

CHANGING THE FORMAT ON OUR PILGRIMAGE: Another important
piece of news that I want to share with you is that we are
considering taking a sabbatical in 2010. This means that we
may not be offering our Pilgrimage in South India that
year. Furthermore, should we offer the pilgrimage again
after that, it may well be in a different format that will
not include the spots and temples we presently feature. If
you have any interest in experiencing exactly what has been
an amazing journey for so many in the past 10 years, then
next year (January 2009) may well be the year to do it. We
still have some spaces left. Additionally, we are offering
a 10-day extended retreat and mini-pilgrimage to
Arunachala, one of South India's holiest sacred sites. This
add-on is offered only to those who are journeying with us
on our main pilgrimage. However, if you have traveled with
us in the past on any of our previous pilgrimages and want
to join us just for this add-on segment, please email us
and we will give you the details, which is not available
for public viewing on our website.

$15 SEMINAR AND FREE CONCERT IN HIGHLANDS, NC: As
mentioned, I am getting ready to start traveling again and
will be engaged in presentations from the middle of August
through early December. (My complete schedule is on the
events page on our website). I am starting out in
Highlands, North Carolina, which I hear is an exquisitely
beautiful location. The program that I am offering is a
day-seminar on Saturday, August 16 titled "Program
Description for The Marriage of East and West: Exploring
Christian-Hindu Dialogue" and an evening concert. Since
these public events are underwritten by the Highlands
Institute for American Religious and Philosophical Thought
(HIARPT), the daylong seminar is being offered for $15 and
the concert is free to the public. Please visit our site
for details and do pass on the information to family and
friends.
This whole program is organized by Diane McPhail who has
been a student of mine for more than a decade. She is a
teacher in her own right and is also organizing a private
retreat for her student group prior to the Saturday public
events. This is not open to the public.
